Decedent father was riding his bike in the designated bike lane when defendant opened his door without checking his mirror.  Decedent flew off his bike and suffered fatal heads wounds. At trial, Plaintiff wife won $1,000,000 against defendant even with comparative liability because of decedent’s failure to wear a helmet.
