On May 28, 2024, after six weeks of trial, Kramer Trial Lawyers attorneys Dan Kramer and Teresa Johnson, along with co-counsel Colleen Pratt of Pratt Law Corporation secured a $2,360,000 jury verdict in San Mateo County Superior Court.

The case arose out of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on October 28, 2018 in Pacifica, California on Highway 1. At the time, sixteen year old defendant Harrison Louis Kraus was driving his mother’s vehicle home from the beach. He made a lefthand turn in front of the vehicle driven by Plaintiff Sandra Kay Anderson, causing the front of her vehicle to impact with the side of his vehicle.  As a result of the collision, Plaintiff sustained serious injuries, including burns to the right side of her body from the airbags deploying and nerve damage to her right elbow that required surgery in March 2019.   Unfortunately, due to the trauma of the crash as well as the subsequent surgery, Mrs. Anderson lost function, strength, and range of motion in her right arm that has greatly impacted her ability to engage in daily activities, including her job as a swimming instructor, which she had to quit following the collision.

Although the defense admitted liability for causing the crash, they fought hard at trial, arguing that Mrs. Anderson’s complaints were all related to pre-existing osteoarthritis that she had throughout her body and that was visible on imaging studies. They asked the jury to award $250,000 in closing arguments.

Kramer Trial Lawyers worked hard to overcome several issues in this case, including the plaintiff’s long standing history of osteoarthritis, a sympathetic individual defendant, and a drawn out court schedule in a conservative jurisdiction that led to 5.5 days of evidence being presented over 6 weeks of trial.

After two hours of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict for $2,360,000 in favor of Mrs. Anderson, representing all non-economic damages.   Kramer Trial Lawyers is proud of  the hard work of the KTL team along with Colleen Pratt in achieving this favorable outcome for their client.
