A Downey family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), with Kramer Trial Lawyers representing the family after a devastating incident in Brentwood.
On August 29, construction workers loading a 22-ton truck failed to engage basic safety precautions, causing the vehicle to roll downhill and fatally crush Nina Nguyen, a 67-year-old mother, as she gathered supplies from her trunk.
The lawsuit alleges that crucial safety protocols—like using parking brakes and wheel blocks—were neglected, leading to this tragic loss.
Attorney Daniel Kramer emphasized the need for accountability and change, stating,
It was just completely reckless behavior on behalf of DWP and this contractor. We want to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully, we expose what’s been going on and real changes are made so this absolutely never happens again to anyone. It should never have happened in the first place.
